FAQs at The Skye Inn
Dogs are very welcome here at The Skye Inn, and are free to go anywhere in the hotel. If you need bowls of water for your thirsty dog or some towels to dry them off at the end of the day, please come and speak to the team at Reception.
The Skye Inn of course! We are located in a quiet corner of Portree, just a 10-minute walk from the town square. There are plenty of fantastic cafes and restaurants within walking distance from the Inn, as well as a great selection of local bars. Portree is a fantastic base for exploring the entire Island.

We have free on-site parking. We cannot book a spot in our car park, however there are plenty of spaces.
Yes, we have a lockable bike shed. Please enquire at Reception upon your arrival.
If you are looking to surprise your loved one, let us know in advance and we will have a surprise bouquet of flowers or bottle of bubbly waiting in your room.
We have a limited amount of interjoining rooms, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to provide you with connecting rooms. If this isn’t possible, we will try to allocate rooms in the same part of the Inn.
We serve delicious, home cooked food, we also have a fully stocked bar with local/Scottish beers and whiskies.
If you would like to venture into Portree, there are many restaurants on offer. Speak to Reception for recommendations and our staff will happily call ahead to reserve a table for you.
Isle of Skye FAQs
The Isle of Skye is located on the West Coast of Scotland. The largest Island of the Inner Hebrides and reached by either ferry or bridge, it is known for its beautiful, rugged landscape, breath-taking scenery, rich history and abundance of wildlife.
There are two main ways people reach the Isle of Skye. You can either take the Ferry from Mallaig to Armadale or cross the Skye Bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh. Please see our

Dramatic! Skye is one of those places that can definitely be described as ‘four seasons on one day!’. One minute it can be cloudy with the mountains shrouded in mist then, as if by magic, the cloud clears, to reveal glorious sunshine and majestic views.
The temperature in Skye peaks around the mid 20’s C (80F) with it dropping to below zero C (30F) – like the rest of Scotland, it is the chill factor of the wind that can affect you more.
The winter days are short and can be dark. The summer days are the opposite though, with clear skies in mid-summer, and it is often the case that there isn’t complete darkness.
Whilst one day on Skye is time to see the popular sites that the island has to offer, those with two or three days (or even more!) will have a chance to get off the beaten track and see more of Skye’s hidden gems.
There is so much to see and do on the Isle of Skye, we guarantee you will be planning your next trip back before you have left! The island is well-known for its striking rock formations, endless coastline, waterfalls, and world-class climbing. You don’t have to go scrambling up Munro’s though to enjoy the surroundings, however. Skye has a huge range of walks, boat trips, and activities for all ages and abilities, as well as a number of excellent visitor attractions.
